Bedfordshire Centre Parcs Wander

DSCN0587

Just over a year on from my first post to this blog, I found myself again following the newly created bridleway that circumnavigates the holiday park. Unlike last year this time there was plenty of snow on the ground following the recent falls. This holiday camp is still under construction so there is a lot of work taking place and earth moving & tree felling going on.

Due to the forecast of heavy snow falls my planned weekend of walking in the Peak District had been cancelled by the group I was going with. So instead I went for a walk to DSCN0593investigate progress on the new developments just outside Ampthill in Bedfordshire. Starting from Ampthill Park, the path follows the A507 or a an alternative route can be followed through Mags Field, over the railway tunnel and out to the new roundabout.

In total the route was around 11km of which just over 5 km goes around the complex, which is defined by high security fencing. Heading first in a northerly direction the path follows the A507 before joining the old byway and thence onto a new path that continues around. Throughout the path passes within the trees and appears to be very popular, with fresh tire tracks from several mountain bikes and footprints.

This was a pleasant excursion and Toby our dog had a great time exploring the new environment. He certainly enjoyed the snow and the local wildlife.

This would also prove to be a good cross country running route. It obviously could be boggy at other times as the path was fairly rutted.
